Re: Knife Thread - 08/08/21 01:23 AM

no doubt, it's my Dad's Puma Skinner.

His brother (Uncle Karl) bought it for him when he was stationed in Germany. Dad used it when hunting deer, for as long as I can remember.

it's in my possession now, but it will ALWAYS be Dad's knife.

I like this one , it is a Green river belt knife , I bought it finished then modded the scales to have the "kephart" finger groove

I am also oddly partial to an Old Hickory 7-7 butcher knife when skinning and breaking down .

I use this schrade to skin and butcher bears,It is in my kill pack when bearhunting and has seen a lot of use.It took me a few hours work to thin the blade enough to make it a good knife. Once I fixed it up it is a good knife and easy to touch up razor sharp.

These are a few of my beaver skinners.Posts, caribou, ruko, zeph, green river, frost, and victorinox.

This is a russel belt knife-a collector- that I won at the FIC banquet in Ottawa a few years ago.Its never been used, must be the only knife I own that was never used.

I'm mighty partial to the triangle-blade pelter for upland bird cleaning, pelting smaller critters, and finishing capes. I suspect what's best is whatever you're used to using.

Re: Knife Thread - 08/13/21 03:54 AM

This is my toe knife I made years ago from an old sandvik blade and a handle of antler carved thin.
Best knife for skinning out toes on wolf and bear.I tanned a sturgeon skin and used a piece of it for the sheath.

Re: Knife Thread - 08/13/21 04:01 AM

There are a lot of really pretty knives on here. I have some pretty knives I love as well and wouldn't trade for anything.

But the knife I use the most, and therefore like the most???
