Interesting post. Just looking at two of the participants, and easily a half dozen, and watching their body language, I don’t feel comfortable about their opinions on trapping. I hope I’m wrong.

yep--- watched all 2 hours of that today. as well as the beaver trapping on fed lands group yesterday. Jim and Stan are our guys -- Mary ann is farm bureau. Then we have greg and jill liberall govs appointees to the comission (neither are good). not shown in the picture on the screen is bob? - portland audobon society(not good). alot of the same players on both commitees. Gut feeling is we will be ok on the fed land beaver, but i worry about the trap check group.

Wouldn’t we think the Audubon guy would want over-abundant nest-raiding predators thinned out? You know, so the ground nesting birds under so much pressure could survive or maybe even thrive. Whippoorwills, woodcock, turkeys, grouse, a whole bunch of migratory song birds…Audubon should be the biggest advocate for trapping in America. Assuming they actually care about birds…

that's not quite the way the portlanders think---- but yes you would think they would be on our side. I can't remember which groups that quinn and kelly represent (not good ones) i think one is defenders of wildlife or something. You even have to watch the odfw people -- they are much more anti than they used to be. I think these two will be ok.

It is unfortunate that there can even be someone appointed to the Game Commission that is an avowed anti. I guess that's what happens when you have a liberal governor. But personally I think that there needs to be statute codified that does not permit that. It goes against the mission of the Game Commission as I understand things.
