Don't know anything about them, but I recall my oldest brother shooting arrows and broad heads very similar to the one in your pic back in the 80s.

I think that was a late 80's head called a "rocket".

I remmeber the head, but not the name. Reportedly a very poor hear- that punch tip took alot of energy to get through the skin.

Looks like an old glue on broadhead on a really odd tapered adapter. Lots of trad archers use tapered adapters to put heavy glue ons on modern carbon and aluminum shafts. That one there is weird. Maybe seems like those rubber o rings were meant to go inside a shaft?

Like for some kind of blow gun?

Seen a lot of heads like that in the early 70's, had all kinds of names, but never seen one with a long base like that or that bottom piece attached to the stick.

I dont think it has anything to do with a blow gun. It is odd though that it has threads to go into an insert, and as well a taper for a glue on. The o rings behind the head definitely look like they were designed to go in a shaft. There is no other reason to do that? That thing is weird, and frankly a poor design IMO, but it is cool to see the old designs people were trying out

I believe that is correct was stationed at Keesler AFB MS in the 80's . Ans a guy from Tennessee I was stationed with showed me one. The medicine was placed between the O rings and covered with a balloon type of rubber tube. It would role back on impact releasing the medicine.

It is for a POD and the chemical was anoneckteen. I doubt it is spelled that way but it pronounced that way. Ann O Neck Teen. Pretty dangerous stuff. Shuts down the nervous system and you stop breathing. Takes a very small amount to do the job. I was always afraid of it.

Remember reading about it.
Was said to disapate and not harm humans or other animals after to went in the blood stream of the deer.
Dispatched quickly , and was safe to eat the meat of the deer.

Yeah I got a set of 6 of them. Bought them in the 80s. Their deal was you could screw off the point, take off the blades and then screw in a target point that came with the set.
I wasn't impressed and went back to Bear Razor Heads. Yes, they were named Rockets or Wasps or something like that.

If it got into the blood stream it did the trick, we used to talk about it with new hunters in bowhunter education classes.

Not going to argue that!Remember it was an story in Outdoor Life or another magazine that was popular back then.Might be why it never took hold in the bowhunting world.Remember it was some DR that used it while bow hunting.Don't think it went anywhere outside of Mississippi .

Re: Ever seen a arrow like this ? - 11/28/22 04:17 AM

a later version of that was no-doze and asprin crushed into a powder dip the tip in honey , roll it in the no does and asprin powder if cut by it elevated pulse and no clotting.

were some archers in the 90s that used this and got caught

made for short tracking and big blood trails was the idea.

I believe the broadhead in the photo is called a Missle Spike. They came in either a glue-on or screw-in model. I shot some of those heads back in the early 80's. I'm not certain what the part below the head is with the two O-rings on it, but it doesn't look like any pods that I have ever seen.
