Only six inches of snow. That makes me so envious of some folks that really haven't met Mr. Snow or Mrs Ice.

Winter below my house and on the River Bank.

More River bank :

What six inches of our snow looks like in the Highlands.

Imagine what this frost does to steel you are trying to keep free of ice as it thaws and then chills again over night. Some folks think trappers are lazy but not many folks have much understanding of the work involved.

Oh, I know both of them well.....that was what Mr Wilcox was referring to, he knows where I lived for twenty years..LOL

It is difficult to explain the snow conditions in the narrow band off of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario called the snow belt......

But pictures, they do show the story.

BTW. If you look at the pictures around my place and the ones in our Highlands you get a feel for just how snow works in the High Country. Very little snow around my place because I am in a Valley closer to sea level and although lots of ice but those Highlands are another story.

Don't doubt that you have. Those ranges really hang up weather patterns and make for deep long winters. Where I live closer to sea level ,we get such up and down weather that it is hard to describe. Minus thirty Celsius one day and plus ten the next ,snow all morning and then rain will drive through followed by more snow. Very tough on keeping traps in working order even without rain or snow as thaws and freezes are even harder to control on a regular bases..

Sorry that you are just on here for the Entertainment only. I find most things very informative and or funny to read. The stuff I don't care for I do what I do with the tv, turn the channel......... [go to the nx thread]
