"I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democratic Party has adopted our platform."
Times have changed yet further. Or doesn't the fact that the last Republican administration increased government, government spending, and federal deficits as never before count as "socialism"?

federal deficits as never before Actually, Obama doubled the national debt, just by his signature on the stimilus bill, which has no precident. Tidbits: The only President to pay off the National debt was Andrew Jackson. The last time the national debt decreased was 1957.

Wrong. The national debt exceeds $10 trillion, and was almost doubled during the Bush presidency.
The current stimulus bill almost doubled the annual deficit for 2009. But there is a difference between the national debt in total, and the amount we're adding to that total through annual deficits.

We should all be worried about that.
And remember that this deficit wasn't built by any one party.

We need to forget about Rep. vs Dem and see what's happening to our country but we should've done that much earlier. That's hindsight now...

As long as weak little wimps, like john mcain are runnung for the republican party, conservatism is DEAD, the whole party has conformed into a scared little red headed step child, with very few having the balls to stand up for what it really means to be.... RIGHT. just like JOHN WAYNE said.

Indeed!!!!!!!!!! Neither the Democratic or Republican party are good topics to get me started on! We can blame Bush, we can blame Obama, but to do so ignores the fact that the total number of elected reps in Congress and the Senate is, IIRC, 535. The number of Presidents is 1!

Thing is, Margret Thatcher had it right. Sooner or latter Government sucks the good out of the working folk to the point where the system is the only thing left to be dependent upon. Meanwhile the people become so dependent upon the Government that the system collapses because of the demand being greater then the providers can support. Solution that should have been enacted? Whittle down government size. Fire the Lobbyists the dickens out of Washington? Cut government spending and allow the Capitalist system the ability to correct the markets. Instead Government wanting to make people dependent upon them offered to print more money and borrow more money and pretend that stimulus isn't a synonym for BAILOUT at all costs, while lacing BAILOUTS with more Pork Barrel politics.
