Ole Mr. Nessie, i picked up another skillet today. a #8 I think, has a full heat ring on the bottom. only markings on it is OH straight down from the handle on the bottom inside the heat ring. I thumped it and it rang like a bell and when I spun it on a glass top display case it wobbled like Savell after a Cowboys game. In the oven currently seasoning it. Probably was fine as was but I still like to do that part myself.

I remember as a boy chasing Rabbits with my brothers was a right of passage I just couldnt wait to to head to the brush tangled burms of the old railroad tracks to watch and listen as our old Basset-beagle Brownie would open up he had a heck of a voice on him and it wouldnt be long before you would have movment and ole Brownie would be right on Mr Rabbits heels we would only shoot just a couple enough for my mom to make a supper I remember one time asking my brother why dont we just shoot-em up he just looked at me and said why put em in the freezer when we can just get after them and eat them fresh I grew up living between 3 sets of railroad tracks the Delaware the Lehigh valley and the NY central offering endless miles of high burms and tangle and hunting in the snow watching the chases would seem almost magical and just like anything else time can change almost anything And now there doesnt seem to be the populations of rabbits that there once was with just about everything being posted tight but what had me remenice was that i jumped a bunny out of a blow down tangle today and as i watched him scoot through the brush i could smell the fresh gun oil and could swear in the distance i was hearing ole Brownie open up its a shame when i think about it because every youngster should have that kinda oppurtunity to chase rabbits and fall in love with nature the same as i did so many years ago
