I am planning to set for Cats tomorrow and would like to try a leaning pole set. Any advice for attaching the 330 to the tree? I plan to have the coni the legal distance off the ground. Just so nobody wonders about setting a 330 on land in Michigan.

If you flatten your pole with an axe where your going to set the trap. The use 3 roofing nails,, 2 on one side and 1 on the other side in the center. The space between the two nails on one side and the one on the other side should be just over an inch apart. Now set the trap so one jaw is on the outside of the 2 nails and the other jaw is on the outside of the 1 nail. Squeeze the jaws into the nails as you set it. Your trap will stay there in place.

Now lift the two springs up above the top jaws at an angle and you can put a bough through both rings forming an arc above the trap.

This is a great way to set any size conibear on a pole set. Sometimes I even set on a pole for a diving set using 3 nails. If I have time tomorrow I will look for some pictures to show.

The screw in stakealizer will fit any size trap, I use the stakealizer on an 18" stake for angled water sets with 330's, 280's and 220's and shallow trail water sets with 120's. Talk about quick and easy!

Here are some photos as promised:

3 nail pole set

Branch Pole set.

3 Nail set used for otter and beaver on diving pole.

I hope you fellows can use this type of information. Nails are not bulky and easy to carry in your pocket.

Thank you Trapper Ron! I didn't make it to the woods today. I was sick and tired of my garage looking like crap. Spent 7 hours in there today and will spend another 5 or 6 tomorrow. Then Sunday after church I can set traps knowing I have a clean garage.

this is what i make up and i use them to hold any thing from a 110 to a 220 for crossing logs. for mink and coon.

this is a 220 on the side of a oak tree.

this is a 220 camoed out with pine bows for coon or pine marten.

Heres a way Ive used for fisher and marten. Take an old garden hose and cut it into 2"-3" lengths. Then nail or screw the lengths in the the tree and set the bottom jaws under the hose. It holds it very secure. Works the same as a coni holder and is cheaper.
