I doubt it would have been a very good bear trap, smooth jaws, hook in jaws , and small chain and swivel looks like a recipe for loosing a bear and possibly the trap. The condition is unbelievable, a very nice piece for any collection. Thanks for showing it.....

He asked me if I had ever seen a triumph trap after it had caught a bear. I told him know and he proceeded to dig out a five gallon pail full of mangled triumph parts, literally pulled the jaws right out of the frame. The old guy said he would never buy another one ....lol
