Your trap looks to be in nice condition. There are many variables when pricing a trap, such as are all the teeth there, are they tight, how is the other spring stamp, does the trap have any welds or repairs, and other things. Several more pictures need to be seen to substantiate a reasonable depiction of value. I sent you a PM.

story behind the trap is.Grandfathers trap used it to trap 2 bears that he knows of possibly more one was a griz. There was a fire in a line cabin where the other trap was,one spring lost its temper in fire. That trap his brother has and could not be contacted.Said his grandfather used them Late 1800 - early 1900. Is that time frame correct? This trap has one tooth missing, no welds or repairs that i can see.both springs are stamped Kenwood New york. The jaws are stamped with his grandpas name.Does that hurt the value? Alsogot a few names of other ranchers that have old newhouse traps. I willbe checking them out as well.I took some more pix of this trap. will post shortly.

In my opinion, the missing tooth and the name stamped on the jaws will impact the value. How much will depend on the buyer.

A true collector will want a trap that is perfect, or close to it. Yours is not close to perfect.

For a person that wants a # 6 Newhouse to sit by the fireplace as a display piece, he might like your trap - he can tell all sorts of stories about the trapper that owned the trap originally and how the tooth got broken off.

I have to say that it would be cool to have a trap that you know had bear in it.. I tried for years to track down a newhouse that belonged to one of my great grandfathers. He used it here to trap black bear..Sadly it was stolen from the family..

I think the brass around the teeth looks cool.
