Just wondering if anyone can post a picture of the K9 Extreme Jr next to a MB550. Having a hard time deciding on which trap to get. I have and love the 550's but have never seen an Extreme Jr in person. And if I get the Extremes, I have no idea on how I would want them modded. Thanks!

No brainer get the KO Jrs I have mine outside laminated and 2 coiled. Plenty strong and quick. They lay flat and easy to tune. I had issues with the newer MB 550s and got rid of them Very good fox and coyote trap if you have lots of fox and target both. The only change I am making on mine is the JC Connor swivel so they bed even easier and clog less with mud than with a crunch proof swivel under the base plate.

I'm just curious what the issues are about the new 550s before I get more? Thanks

Thank you, Mr. Morse. Quite a difference in frame thickness by the look of that picture! I have been on the No BS website and seen the pictures on there, but wanted a pic of the two side by side. Thank you for that! By chance, do you have one with them both set side by side? Thanks again! I'll be at the convention in Escanaba this Saturday. It would be great to find a dozen or two when I'm there!

I could not get consistent pan tension for fox. I have more fox than coyotes and never had a fox toe catch until I used the 550's. Also if someone can post a picture of both set you will see the JRs have a more square opening. Some of it is just personal preference. I do like the JRs dog less system and the pan sits lower like a step down pan.

They are really easy on feet. I have had no issues with the JRs on red fox or raccoons. I even caught my own beagle in one with no issues. The electric fence collar broke and she decided to visit my test set up the hill from the house. Caught a stray black lab as well with no issues other than my son wanting to keep her. Luckily we found the owner and I don't have to feed another worthless couch dog.

What do the juniors weigh? I believe the bigger k9 extreme trap weighs in at four pounds per trap. ALOT trap to haul around. But i dont think you have to worry about the trap getting bent up. Excellent coyote and cat trap.

![](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2017/06/full-2531-377204-trapping_2017_2018_003.jpg) ![](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2017/06/full-2531-377206-trapping_2017_2018_005.jpg) I don't understand the problems with the 550's.I've run them for several years, old and new and have yet to get anything but above the pad holds on fox, cats and coyotes. If you like them and are already using them, buy them.Shipping on MB's,for 4 doz,is cheaper than 1 doz no BS.The MB 550,2 coiled, weighs 2 lb 3.6 oz. Having said that,I bought a sample Junior and Extreme,4 coiled, double lammed. They are an amazing trap,as well designed as any I've seen. The pan sits perfectly level with zero wobble-just perfect.I can't find anything about them I'd change except the physical weight. If that's not a problem for you,I can't see how you can go wrong with the no BS.They are nice. 2TRAPS is right, they aren't going to get banged up.They are built like a tank and feel like one when you carry them.Amazing traps though.

I run the 550 os 4 coiled and by bending the dog where the flat meets the round I get consistent 2# pan tension. ![](http://i.imgur.com/8yGRl6Gm.jpg) I also file an extra notch so the dog stays in place when setting. Thanks 2 traps.. ![](http://i.imgur.com/RwvgdjWm.jpg) ![](http://i.imgur.com/1aoq8vjm.jpg) Perfect I sure wish they were adjustable dogless though..

I like those safety notches also. Helps me alot. Going be hard to beat The 550 as multi species trap. I may just sell all my traps and run nothing but the 550s. But I just got so many good traps I use them all.

The Sterling was the first hardcore coyote trap. Then more followed, thanks to Mr. coyote.

Well, Thank you all for the replies. I just got back from the convention and bought a 1/2 dozen of both the Jr's and the full size Extremes. Like what was already stated- TANKS! I had a great and lengthy conversation with Kendals brother, Kurt, and was amazed with their products. I got the 6 Extremes (os,ol,4coil), 6 Jr's(os,ol,4coil), 1 dozen 1.5's(dj,ol)(thanks 2traps!), 1 dozen of their DP's and a jar of their K9 bait. Can't wait to put them in the ground!

Well, it stinks! I was mistaken, I got the K9 Extreme Force LURE, not bait. But in all seriousness, I believe it will work pretty well. You can smell some skunk, but not too much. I forgot to mention that I also got one of their WolfFang drivers. They had a prototype of their Extreme Beaver trap there too. I tried my hardest to get Kurt to sell it to me (I wanted to be the first to own/use one), but he wouldn't. He said that the jaws and levers weren't even heat treated yet, that they pretty much just threw it together to have it to show. I'll tell you what, it looks like one heck of a beaver trap! And for the record, I love the 550's but the Extreme Jr blows it out of the water! No BS about it (pun intended) ![grin grin](/forum/images/graemlins/default/grin.gif)
