also reviews on super stakes with chains would be great. thanks for your help.

I picked up two dozen. They're built a little stronger than I imagined for $99 a dozen. The "dogless," feature sticks up just a tad higher above the jaw then the Bridger 2's. The only complaint I've had so far. I'm going to be setting them for cats so I'm not real worried about modifications as of yet. I think if I was going to be going after coyotes you might want to laminate the jaws, weld the jaw tips, and possibly base-plate. I plan to run them bone stock without waxing or dying. See what they're made of. I love the fact that the pan sits well below the jaws.

I just rec'd my dozen in the mail to try. I would agree with Wade. They feel lot heavier build than a duke #2. I had to adjust 1 pan out of the bunch(it was a little "hair trigger" grin) and swap 1 end swivel that was backwards. Not a big deal. I'm glad I got them!

I have them getting a quick degrease in the Dishwasher before the boss gets home from work.......wish me luck.

I was told $140/doz. Can’t recall if that was shipped or not.

Finally got to play with th #2 dogless. It is a workable trap if you want dogless. I personally prefer dog on if fox are a percentage of the target.

I was going to do a long review with photos but can’t post from my phone. You can thank photobucket...

Posting for coon duke

They set pretty flat with the pan pretty low on the 2s

Wish the pan was a little bigger but oh well

I cut the L off all Bridger type springs. It keeps coyotes from popping them and the loose jaw sets lower.

I had to remove the pan bolt nut. I could t get it adjusted right. The bolt stud should be a little longer on the 2. It’s fin on the 3.

I had to bend the pan to lower them by putting a screwdriver or rod under the shank and bending down

I also popped the jaws and sanded the edges on a vertical belt sander. This smoothed them and lowered pan tension a bit. The pan notch needs some filing just like the old Monty dogless

I have never had anything pop a Northwoods type spring but I have heard of it.
Some used to put a spot of weld on the tip.
I will just keep using them till I have a problem.
Thanks,
Glenn

I like the traps, caught a nice red fox with one today and 2 coons, I did happen to pop a jaw out on my own trying to pry frozen trap open. welding tips is probably a great idea

Just got a dozen of the wolf creek #2 dogless today. In full disclosure I have never used any of the old Montys and was not used to a pan setup and adjustment as these had so there was a little bit of a learning curve. I agree with everything Wolfdog laid out.
-I had a few that I could not set out of the box without some adjusting and file work. The adjustment bolt could stand to be about 4-5 threads (about 3/16") longer, because by the time I had adjusted them out to where they would hold the nut was about 1/4 of the way off the threads.
-The pan does sit really low between the jaws which I like.
-The pan seems a bit small but because the pan sits so low it seems to limit the width due to the space between the levers. Although I may be able to add a little bit to the length.
-The price point is great at about $8.33 per trap shipped to your door they are hard to beat, I was out in Grampian, PA today and told Sunderland about them and he seemed amazed at the price.
All in all I am very happy with them I may have to do a little tinkering to get them right where I want them, but I think they are well worth it.

When will these be on the site? I'm hoping to get a dozen or 2 when I get up some money this spring.

Yeah, the springs are strong and they seem very fast! They were kind of a pain to set until I figured them out, but by the time I adjusted and set the 12th one I had it down. I was thinking about 4 coiling them until I got them, now I think 4 coiling them might be a bit much. I may leave them alone for a couple seasons before I start modding.

My springs seem strong and I agree they are fast. If you don’t get dog on the jaw right, you can’t get your hand out of the way quick enough. Ha ha. I agree that there seems to be a learning curve in setting vs a dog on trap for me anyways. If I can set em, anyone can set em.

I believe Montgomery eventually did away with the adjustment bolt going down from the pan. That's how I set them. Just use a finger to push the pan up with the bolt. Then you are not in the trap.
