My taxidermist sent me a pic of my black coyote I caught last year today, so gotta go pick it up and try to find somewhere in the house to hang it. I'm pleased with the way it came out

That's a nice one. The wife and I saw one that was black as night up at Kinzu this past summer. The thing was huge, looked like the size of a small German Shepard. I love the rocks also the taxi did a nice job. Mind telling how much? Just ballpark.

What's the deal with the splotchy, uneven hair? Was it killed late winter/early spring?
Don't get me wrong. Other than the bad hair day, the mount looks very lifelike.

Finster,He charged $500 then I bought the base seperate and it was $130, so I got around $630 in it. As long as the wife don't find out I'll be ok. She might expect a new dress or something

Are you a taxidermist bucksnbears? This is about the 3rd or 4th time someone has posted a picture of their critter they are proud of and had mounted that you have on.

No I'm not.

I love the color of that coyote!
If you’re happy then that’s all that matters. I do think the taxidermist most likely altered the form and ruined the anatomy of the coyote. Also coyotes don’t hold their tail curled up like that.

I'm also a taxidermy snob, lol. I've had 2 things mounted in my life, a coon head, and a full mink mount and was not happy with either, which is why I don't reckon to get anything else mounted. People that know how to do taxidermy charge over $600 for a mount, and to pay that it would need to be a spectacular critter for me... anything else you get a mount like this, or worse.... and I've seen a LOT worse. This one looks okay, except the tail is ALL wrong, and from the front shoulders to the ears as well. The nose is a bit long, but not bad.. it's just the other things that make it look a bit out of whack. Overall a decent mount, but not top quality.

I agree, other than the fur being what it is I think the mount is awesome. Simply some people are always going to complain.
I'd had it mounted in a heartbeat and would have been happy with it the way it was done.

If you are not happy with the tail there is only wire in it so you can bend it any which way you want. Wish I had a dark one like that.

Taking quality pictures of taxidermy mounts is a challenge. Trying to capture what the eye sees in person is not as easy as it would seem. I would never judge a mount strictly by a picture like that.

That's about what I was going to post but you saved me the time. The body looks too long and the tail doesn't look natural. Other than that it doesn't look bad. No doubt it was a beautiful coyote but I see very few coyote mounts that I think are flawless.

No jealousy at all here. The man posted a picture of a mount on a trapping forum. When that happens people share their opinion of the mount, some like it and some don't. Kinda like fat women.

No need to take sides or offense.
Everyone sees things thru different eyes. Some may pay billions, I wouldn't give one penny for the Mona Lisa.
RM congrats on catching it, the mount is a testament to your skill and a forever smile making memory for you.

I have trail cam pictures of a black coyote behind my house a couple months ago. I'm hoping to catch him and if in decent condition I will get it mounted.

A fat woman is like a moped. Fun to ride but you don't want your buddies to see you riding it.

Finally went and picked him up from the taxidermist today, now if I can figure out somewhere to put it. My 3 yr old is already combing his hair and talking about how good a dog he is. Lol

I sold two wy bobcat to my wife's cousin in mpls, his friend mounted both of them, one for Bruce and one for himself, the pretty blue back tom was the one Bruce had his friend do, I was at his house couple years later, he said there's the bobcat, I looked up and about puked! The guy didn't even get the eyes straight, I said ya I see!

Looks good in the last two picks. I think the first picture the shoulder disappeared into the shadow of the neck making the neck look really long.
