I feed quite a few song birds during the winter months...Squirrels are welcome, but not at every single feeder I have, so I thought I would buy a squirrel proof feeder just to try, and maybe keep one feeder open for song birds...it worked, until this guy figured out how to get the seed out....he ain't no dummy....kinda funny though..... Weight of the squirrel closes the feeder... Figured out if he hangs from the roof it will keep the feeder open...really
Thought I was a good trapper until I started trapping coyotes...... Thought I was a good bowhunter until I targeted mature bucks....

Around here a few have lived to earn a free meal. Too bad that all came to an end when I figured out that they had figured it out.

I'm with possumcatcher.
Squirrels are quite smart. Any that have escaped my traps were never caught again in either that style trap or that location. They are "all in" on survival.
Cheers.

Sad to say; I have a squirrel memorial wall at my place.
Of the dozens of names, like Shirl, Earl, Burl, and Merle, one name stands out:
Twirl.
It seems she may have encountered a machete attack and lost a limb. Her attempted escape was anything but a straight line.
