I am always amazed at these association auctions and how fortunate you are to have 5-10 buyers attending even with small amounts of fur. We tried a small district sale a few years and had up to 3,000 pelts and never had more than 3 buyers, most years two.

The average on #1 grade coyotes was 23.50 for our sale. I'd take that average and run with most of my coyotes .

$29.00 average seems like a very good price for Ohio coyotes.

The coyotes sold at FHA most likely came from the Canadian provinces, for the most part. Much better quality than Ohio coyotes.

yeah, $29.00 average would seem pretty good. But that was the high - not the average. The average was only $15.34.

The FHA Section 1 Eastern average was over $50. I have no idea what goes into FHA eastern coyotes but I thought most of the good coyotes came from western Canada. I didn't think east-Canada coyotes were much different than east-USAican coyotes. There's still a big difference between $51.50 and $15.34.

I'm not speculating on the what the difference might be. I'm just trying to get a feel for what my Indiana coyotes might be worth so I can decide if I want to attempt to sell them or spend money on them to get them tanned and use them for gifts and crafts. Right now it sounds like maybe if I sell the pelts it won't even cover my costs for having pelts tanned last season!

From what I read on the OSTA Facebook page, a lot of the coyotes were of poor quality. A friend sold 2 for $24 each I think. And, yes, I believe some of the buyers were there buying for their own use. As was said, for the craft market, flea markets, etc.
