I would use the 1.75 and double them up That's my thinking as well.No need to 4 coil.

Can you use a snares? 1.75 will do, but there are guys using CDRs on cats also. Either be just fine unless you are going to release them.

1 3/4 Is all u need for bobcat and coyote from PA to NM. Have caught and held both nicely in MB450's also which is a little smaller.

My first bobcat, a big tom, was held by one toe in a #2 Duke offset. A cat's foot is big in proportion to the cat's body. But they aren't THAT big.
And bobcats just don't fight a trap as hard as a canine.
Shouldn't be any problems using a 1.75 size trap. If you can spare an extra trap, double up if it gives you more confidence.
