I was going to make some killer spring snares to try in the future. I currently use 3/32. 7x7 cable with cam locks for general purpose coyote snaring in MN. I see that many people use 1/16 for coyote and even wolf? I would imagine the 1/16 would be 1x19 to make it more ridgid for a larger loop diameter? I am hoping that the killer springs do what they are supposed to do and help eliminate water head. Any information at all would be great. Thank you. I would imagine that Marty Senneker is not on this site.

I switched to 1/16” 1x19 cable this year and I love it! It’s much stiffer cable and the loops are much rounder!
Last year I used 1/16” 7x7 cable and had troubles with my loops kinda twisting and drooping like a big oval.

Kill springs work great!

YES they do. A kill or coil compression spring should be included with any snare designed to dispatch the animal. Either of these springs greatly increase the effectiveness of any lock.

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

I would rate torsion springs 5 times more effective than coil snare springs.

I would say your probably correct but then it depends on whether or not you use either correctly. Shyte happens with any system even when you know what your doing.
