Just rescued this beautiful little Pomeranian, have not had her to the vet yet. Have had her about a month.

I've tried every type, brand, etc.

All I can get her to eat is dog goodies and table scraps?

Well, is it cruel to let her starve until she eats what I offer her.

Have tried it, I can only go 2 days without relenting. She just won't eat.

Very healthy. Active. Etc.

Suggestions please.

Will

Last one I had got killed by a bear! They are wonderful hunters!

Been around dogs all my life, never happened before. Starve her until she eats.

Pour water into the bowl of dog food and let it set and get mushy. Start so it is almost soup that the dog can mostly lap up. Over the next couple weeks reduce the amount of water until its eating dry food. Should be able to go all the way to dry in 4 weeks, just gotta get the dog used to the texture.

A dog that would starve it's self before eating the food you give it should probably be culled

Try some of the wet dog food that looks like chunky soup and add some dry to that.

Put down a bowl of whatever dog food you use. Let it set for 15 minutes, then put the bowl up to where the dog can't get to it. Do not give it any other type of food of any kind. The next day set the bowl down for the dog to eat & leave it there for 15 minutes. Then take the bowl up & same as the day before give the dog nothing else to eat. Day 3 repeat the process.
The first day the dog probably will not eat. The second day it might not eat. The third day the dog will most likely eat like he is starved. This should take care of your problem.
I was told this by a vet when I had a dog that refused to eat anything but milk. It worked for her & I never had a problem from her again.

Chicken broth or yogurt over the kibble--even the pickiest dogs will eat it.

Check her teeth. She might have cracked or broken teeth or impacted gums, that make it hurt to eat dry kibble.

I know a fellow that had a walker that refused to eat happy jacks dog food for 9 days. After that he couldn’t get enough of it.

Thanks everyone.

She is in good health, between 2-4 yrs old. Good teeth.

I'm going to try a combination of water in the food and putting it down for 15 min. Nothing else.

Put a heaping tablespoon of solidified bacon grease of top of the food. Melt it in with really hot water. Stir it up and mix it well.

New America... your dog might self identify as a cat. Get some cat food. And stop assuming it’s species.

What did the kennel feed the dog? If she is in good health etc it must have been eating. I would feed it the food the shelter fed it. If you want to change the food do it a little over time.
