Anybody been trying one of those foot activated cable restraints this year, like the Belisle or Fremont? I figured The Beav would at least give it a try

They are our only legal ground trap for fox here in France. I've been using them for 8 years with success but they have limitations too. They seem to block easily in a hay set or if you have leaves on the set. Once a fox is snared I've never had a pull out.

Years ago a guy on here gave me some good tips on increasing cable length.

Here's another one that most folks here like more, but for me they are too big to set and too heavy to haul around.

The foot snares sure aren't taking off in Wi, as far as popularity. At least it's another option. 'Cannot complain about that.

They are Newt.

I just don't see the need your still basically setting a foot hold that throws a cable loop. What's the point?

But I know where It's coming from. The point being that some day we might be able to foot snare bears.

Video of some cool foot snares made here in mt. I haven't tried them but could be useful trapping close to pets.
