Regardless of your religious beliefs, this is an enormous waste of time and effort. Bravo Oklahoma republicans. However, I have to wonder if God would finally let us run snares.

Punchline: Oklahoma Sen. Nathan Dahm wrote SB 1457 to amend a clause related to Oklahoma's wildlife. Instead of saying that "all wildlife found in this state is the property of the state," the wording would be changed to say that "all wildlife found in this state is the property of Almighty God."

I don't know how much time and effort is being spent on it but it does sound like a lost cause. However, the issue of ownership of fish and wildlife is a critically important issue to sportsmen.

I think in Indiana, the state laws says that the wildlife is owned by the people and held in the public trust. The state writes the F&G laws, obviously, but title of the animals belongs to the people.

Still, ownership by the state is better than ownership by the landowners which is the way I think it was back in the old country (England and Europe). The legal ramifications of who holds title to the fish and animals is an important, substantive issue that has profound effect on the right to hunt, fish, and trap.

The waste of time and effort is a comment on our state government. Oklahoma lawmakers routinely propose bills that are unconstitutional on their face. Some of them become law and then require the courts--more time and effort.

It's a publicity stunt that is routinely recycled here in various forms.

I agree with you on ownership.

I come from a pretty strict religious background...

But this is stupid and a waste of time.

And in my biblical opinion it's technically not correct per Genesis 1:26.

You live this daily nonsense with me! I know a lot of our state legislators. Some of them are good people. Most of them have however lost their minds (or never had much to work with in the first place).

The legislature is there to handle the affairs of men.

God knows what He's about and what's his.

This is akin to the mailroom employee telling the shareholders that they own the company.

How about we concentrate on a working budget?

On the other side of the coin, if this passes we should push for snares...

They're mentioned several times in the Bible.

Will you need to lobby the local minister, priest, or rabbi to get the Word on what will be allowed? confused
Why would the legislature (or state wildlife agency) then have any say about wildlife if this were to pass?

So if you change your name to "Almighty God", you can lay claim to the State's wildlife and then hunt and trap whenever you wish??

There's no doubt that God already owns all the animals of the earth. No law of man is ever going to change that.

Psalm 50

9
I have no need of a bull from your stall
or of goats from your pens,

10
for every animal of the forest is mine,
and the cattle on a thousand hills.

11
I know every bird in the mountains,
and the insects in the fields are mine.

12
If I were hungry I would not tell you,
for the world is mine, and all that is in it.

Psalm 24:1
The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it,
the world, and all who live in it;

Psalm 104...

He makes springs pour water into the ravines;
it flows between the mountains.

11
They give water to all the beasts of the field;
the wild donkeys quench their thirst.

12
The birds of the sky nest by the waters;
they sing among the branches.

13
He waters the mountains from his upper chambers;
the land is satisfied by the fruit of his work.

14
He makes grass grow for the cattle,
and plants for people to cultivate—
bringing forth food from the earth:

15
wine that gladdens human hearts,
oil to make their faces shine,
and bread that sustains their hearts.

16
The trees of the Lord are well watered,
the cedars of Lebanon that he planted.

17
There the birds make their nests;
the stork has its home in the junipers.

18
The high mountains belong to the wild goats;
the crags are a refuge for the hyrax.

19
He made the moon to mark the seasons,
and the sun knows when to go down.

20
You bring darkness, it becomes night,
and all the beasts of the forest prowl.

21
The lions roar for their prey
and seek their food from God.

22
The sun rises, and they steal away;
they return and lie down in their dens.

23
Then people go out to their work,
to their labor until evening.

24
How many are your works, Lord!
In wisdom you made them all;
the earth is full of your creatures
.

25
There is the sea, vast and spacious,
teeming with creatures beyond number—
living things both large and small.

26
There the ships go to and fro,
and Leviathan, which you formed to frolic there.

27
All creatures look to you
to give them their food at the proper time.

28
When you give it to them,
they gather it up;
when you open your hand,
they are satisfied with good things.

29
When you hide your face,
they are terrified;
when you take away their breath,
they die and return to the dust.

30
When you send your Spirit,
they are created,
and you renew the face of the ground.

What from Christ that soul can sever,
Bound by everlasting bands?
None shall take thee
From the Strength of Israel's hands.

Some times it's embarrassing to be from Oklahoma with the stupid silliness these goofballs come up with. We have a few pressing matters like budget, education and roads that need dealt with.

If it passes do you have to go to church to get your hunting/trapping license?
