What’s the difference between a pixie hat and a pillbox?

My mother wants a fur hat made. She wants something simple. Short soft fur (mink, muskrat, otter) not big (fox coon). And must cover the ears.
I was looking at either a pillbox or pixie hat made out of muskrat. Recommendations?

Pixies are basically fitted as a knit cap is, rounded and may cover a portion of the ears, or may be shorter just above the ears.

Pill boxes are basic square shape, and can cover lower down over the ears .

Ive seen either type be varied as to how low they set over the ears, but the main difference I have noted is the shape. Either fitted to the head as a knit cap does, or more box, or square shaped .

It would be good to be able to know what type shape your Mum would favor. Fitted, or more square.

You could look online at photos from those who sell them and get a good idea of what they may look like for her.

If she may not want too much material a pixie may be more to her liking.

If this isn't a surprise, she should also view online the differences to see what she likes best.

I bet Nancy (Wissmiss) would have some good thoughts , along with other folks here too.

well, pixies usually wear very small hats and hookers have the pill boxes.

I think Pixie hats look nicer with long fur while pile boxes look better with short fur. Pill box hats I think look much more eloquent.

Yeah it seems that way based on pictures. I think I will go with the pillbox.
