I am a new member here but I've been a "lurker" off and on for several years. I was a member of several Facebook trapping pages but, Facebook is full of bleeding hearts and everyone wants to tell you their political stance on everything (I'm a republican and I don't care what you do just don't bother me....that's my political stance) so I am taking a break from all that crap. I trapped heavily years ago but, I became obsessed with killing bears over the hounds that I bred, raised and trained and trapping went to the back burner. After treeing, photographing and killing a train car full of bears it has started to grow old...as have I and it lost it's luster. I picked trapping back up about 3 years ago and it's fast becoming another obsession again not because of the money... LOL...but because my 11 year old son has the trapping bug as well. He and I trap with my wife's cousin who brought me up to speed on coyote trapping since before I gave up trapping all I ever focused on were water animals and a few snared fox. I feel as though we have had a banner year catching 59 coon's, 45 yotes, 29 beaver, 26 opossum, 12 grey fox, 11 bobcat's, 10 red fox, 5 otters, 1 mink and 1 muskrat..in a 330. We don't start trapping until January as to be respectful and give space to the deer hunter's and to minimize the risk of catching a valued bear dog and possibly cutting the hunter's season short. My pride and what gives me the most joy is watching my 11 year old skinning, fleshing and stretching all the coon's and opossums himself and teaching his buddies how it's done. Anyway, that's who I am and thanks for allowing me to join. Hopefully, I can contribute in some form to this site.

Hello. Good to hear you got your son into trapping and hopefully some of his buddies too. What kind of hounds do you have?
