Dylann Roof sentenced to death for church slayings

CHARLESTON, S.C. — A federal jury has sentenced Dylann Roof to death for killing nine black church members in a racially motivated attack in 2015.

Roof, who is white, faced either life in prison or execution for the slayings on June 17, 2015. The Justice Department says he is the first person to get the death penalty for federal hate crimes.

The jury reached a decision after about three hours of deliberations.

Roof was convicted last month of all 33 federal charges against him. During sentencing, he represented himself and told jurors he didn’t have a mental illness. But he didn’t offer any remorse or ask that his life be spared.

Roof told FBI agents he wanted to bring back segregation or perhaps start a race war with the slayings.

May it be swift and certain.
And may he rot in Hades!

What does SC use for the death penalty , probably should bind his hands and feet bury him to his neck in sand at low tide and let the tide come in. they can pull his corps out at the next low tide.

Not up to SC since it's a Federal hate crime conviction.

It was murder. He should get the death sentence whether it is a hate crime or not.

We'll still be feeding him in 15 yrs.

Agreed 100% he needs to die for his crime...And on the other hand, the gangbangers who go polar bear hunting need the same punishment.

I never could understand why we have to feed them for 20 years when they are sentenced to death. If your going to toast them then Get Er Done!

You can also thank history for the death sentences that were handed down wrongfully but carried out too swiftly for anyone to notice. I know I am in the minority here. I know he did it and the punishment is just. However, if the appeal process keeps one innocent person from taking a needle or riding the lightening, well I guess I am ok with the process. Hard to say we wont hear appeals in this case but we will in some others. Just my 2 cents

Kinda a strange question, if Roof was a Christian before killing those 9 people in the church would he still go to Heaven? And if he became a Christian after killing the 9 people in the church would he still go to Heaven?

If he repents and believes that Jesus died on the cross for his sins. Then yes his sins would be covered with with the blood of Christ. And he will go to heaven. Just like all of our sins have been. Non of us are perfect, just forgiven.
