Looks good Swamp Wolf!!
I need to rig a system to hang mine better like that. 1x2 slats and 3" finishing nails... Copied that from my buddy ClayC in Missouri.

Lol I only dried another 60 cats to finish up what I want to sell this year, just been skinning and freezing everything else. Haven’t been to enthused about it since I saw my fha grades. Made a big mistake sending a batch there but oh well, never know till you go, should have around 1,000 pelts done for next years stuff, prob around 500 cats. Gonna take a break for a few months prob start back up in July or august

There was no way I was going to send cats to auction this year. Not with the carry over and no sales from last year. I think it will take longer than just next season to clear cats.

Take it to west Virginia it may bring 31.50 cents I read that thread. What the heck? Someone at that auction ripped that guy off. Or we don't have the entire story on that fur.

I see the key to all that hard work sitting empty on the bench in the background. As stiff as I feel this morning a swig or two is probably what I need to get the motor going!
Good job Swampy!

Nice work!! What's the average size to your coon...?

Nice to see the dry fur hanging. Do you measure and grade your dry fur before shipping\selling?

I noticed your grey fox are fur in. Do you notice any difference in price or grade for selling them that way?
As far as I know, Groenwald is the only place that wants them fur in. Both NAFA and FHA say to put them fur out.
BTW - I enjoy your pictures. Nothing prettier than a bunch of well handled pelts hanging up. I haven't sold enough of late to make the comparison, but these are destined for GFWC next Friday. Thanks for the compliment.

Nice to see the dry fur hanging. Do you measure and grade your dry fur before shipping\selling? I have in the past, but with this small amount I have an average in my head that I would like to see sale day. This will all be sold to GFWC this coming Friday aling with some green beaver and otter.

Most of those are XL and 2X. That's what I probably thought that your coon down there typically smaller. My average is probably ticked up a size to 2xl-3xl for an average. SNIPERBBB mentioned "Bergman's rule" in another recent thread about larger size critters further north. We also have a high calorie (field corn) environment around here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bergmann%27s_rule

Y'all are correct about Bergmann's Rule. Plus these sandy bottom peat swamps around here don't grow very many large bodied critters, except gators, cottonmouths, and largemouth bass. Otters ain't too bad though.
