Crossed the center line on a narrow FM road and struck another vehicle head on. Wasn't wearing his seatbelt, second time he has been in a bad MVA and ejected from the vehicle. This time he was the driver. Exited the ford ranger via the windshield and into the other vehicles windshield. Major cranial, facial and spine trauma. I am trying to find out the name of the family who were injured in the other vehicle. Troopers told me there were three and two were airlifted to Beaumont and the third rode in an ambulance. Also told me the nephew had an open skull fracture with brain exposed. They have already amputated his left arm just below the elbow, he was in surgery yesterday from 1300 hours until 0530 this morning. Going back to surgery in the morning but I don't know what they will be work g on at this time. His face, soft tissue was 75% removed from the facial bones of the skull. That surgery was close to 7 hours while other surgeons were working to restore blood flow to his arm and dealing with the internal injuries. He is moving his fingers on command and moved his toes today on command. The neurologist and neurosurgery team told the family he will have permanent brain damage it is unsure to what degree and the functions that will be lost. Hope the boy makes it and changes his decision making in the future and his lifestyle.

Wow, prayers being sent. Must be one tough young man, to survive those injuries. He has a long road to recovery.

Sadly reminds me of my two boys who were hurt in an automobile accident, they survived and passed on later, was not a good way to live.

Wish them all the prayers they will need, and they will need tons of them , to help them with the boy and to help them selves with each other to move on.

Things will never ever be the same, I'm sure most of ya know this and should accept it, holding out for any thing else is valiant, but not healthy.

Yes he does have a long road of recovery, he isn't out of the woods yet on the brain injuries. Lord knows all of the other things that can happen, infections, pneumonia and many others.
