One of the things I will look for when deciding if beaver is still in the area is fresh droppings on the bottom of the stream, pond, against and along the dams etc. LMAO...! ...I bring a diving mask and snorkel too.. What??? How deep are your creeks?? I do not trap lakes here. Those bright brown dropping show up well on the bottom when fresh!

I trapped one small creek ( narrow stream) that had so much beaver poop floating that it looked like algae!

Nevah have seen it floating.....have seen it when the light is just right....most of the streams,have a canopy of pine and hemlock and shady....haahd to see bottom.....if only 2 feet deep.

Nessmuck Around here we have had much of the wooded areas taken out. A farmer/landowner will say he wants to show me where the beaver are and all you have to look for is the little groves of willow along the water. That is where the beaver are. Mostly Bank Den beaver ? ....or the Hut type ?
