Nice knife, but it is too small for me.

Not sure about the design of the caribou, But Post make beaver skinning knives in 2 designs and 2 sizes each. Coontail, tried to send you a pm, but would not take.

I have a Caribou beaver knife, I don't use it much since I don't like the balance (personal preference) but the main reason I don't like it too much is I find the stainless blade harder to sharpen than my carbon steel Dexter. Of course the Dexter will dull easier, but since I'm always touching up a beaver knife anyway, I figure it might as well be one that touches up easy.

I really enjoy my caribou beaver knife and I'm not a fan of the Dexter knife at all in fact I gave it away as waggler mentioned it's personal preference.
Another favorite knife for skinning beaver or anything else is a 80T Oldtimer stockman's knife I prefer the shorter blade and it just fits my hand.
A often overlooked item is a quality sharpening steel for that I like the F. Dick brand to touch up the edge when needed for me that's after 6-8 passes / cuts or when the edge drags more than cuts.

It is a matter of preference. The top design is the first beaver knife that Post made. And the one I like in the smaller size. That style of blade is the most used in Canada. Then as Post made more knives for the states, he found that most trapper down here liked the second style of blade. So he makes both.

I used the Post round nose large skinner, then I got Ron to custom make me a beaver knife which I prefer to all others.I designed the blade to be half way between a Victorinox and the large round nose skinner.
This is what Ron made for me.

Post also makes a third style. The boco beaver skinner. I have that one and the large beaver skinner. I feel the one I skin with the boco grade better.. couldn't help myself lol.
