Sure that would work, it's about 40 miles out of the way here to the nearest cross walk. So for me to get my mail you suggest I drive to town, walk across the street at the cross walk then drive back and retrieve the stuff from my mail box?

As asked does the car know where the cross walk is? Does the car stop at all crosswalks automatically or how does it determine if the crosswalk is being used? How long does the car wait at each cross walk?
These self driving cars need to be operated on a separate road system, posibly an elevated roadway that would allow pedestrians, bicycles and horses to cross under. Let the Uber company (or other operator) build the system.

The people that predict such things believe that in 10 years or so, it will be illegal to drive your own car so building a separate roadway will not be needed.

Clearly the woman fault. What was she doing on the road walking, when she should have been sitting in a uber car getting from A to B.

I can see great potential for fully automatic cars in smuggling. Strip it of ID or combine parts from many and if the law ever stops the auto no driver would be present to get charged.

On another thought, do these marvels of thoughtlessness recognize that in some towns the cops have blue lights and some have red lights? Will it pull over and submit to search? What if a business has a flashing light advertisement will the car distinguish that from a stop and search vehicle?

gps land navigation is so wonderfully accurate its a wonder its not already law that driving yourself is a crime

I would like to know what will happen when someone uses a high frequency microwave transmitter to fry the electronic brains out of a convoy of fuel tankers moving down the interstate... Or unmanned locomotives pulling God knows what through a residential area.
