Probably just like all traps. People seem to get in and out of trapping on a regular basis and sell their traps. It just so happens that Kendall has sold a lot of these traps,to the point now some that have them are getting out. I've lurked on this site for quite a few years and seen a ton of traps being sold. One of the reasons I got on here because you can get some great deals if you're patient.
One trap I have never seen in the shed is no-bs dps, it's a great and inexpensive trap.

Imo it may have something to do with the weight and sharp edges on the jaws. I have a dozen of the extremes, outside lamination. One of the things I noticed was sharp edges on the inside jaws. After rounding it off was good to go. If this is not done or is not laminated, could spell big trouble because of the extra weight of the trap.
Again, imo they should not be selling these traps with sharp jaw edges. A lot of people don't understand this then run into trouble with excessive damage.
Also, I bought the 4 coils then took the helper springs off for a season or two until the main springs weaken a bit.

I like them for use with drowners. Caught my first otter in a no-bs 11/2 on a 20 ft drowning wire. There was no foot damage and the trap caught it right across the pad. I think we have 6 dozen. Half are double jawed. Both work extremely well. The powder coat has also held up. Like many others, I keep my eyes open for used no-bs 11/2 and will be buying some no-bs DPs in the future too

Don't get me wrong, I think they are a great design. I just think he could have used a little lighter steel like a bridger etc and still had an excellent trap.

I handled them, but for something that heavy duty I opted for the Jakes which I have a few to supplement my 650's in special situations.

I got a number of them last summer and think they are great traps. I like the weight and believe it wears the coyotes out faster. Tried a couple Coyote Cuffs also, gonna have more of both soon.

I'm trying to find more. Will probably just buy new as I can afford them. I like quality over quantity. I have found nothing wrong with them.

i thought it was mb's i see the most for sale and figure it was a volume thing. I am with you. Actually, I have seen more victor traps come up for sale. Does that mean they are bad? (SARCASM) Jerry Jr.

If you knew the only animal you would catch was a coyote than I toadly agree. That would be a perfect trapline in a perfect world. We all know this is not realistic. I didn't say it but thought it goes without saying that your going to catch a non target sooner or later.
Specifically grey fox for me, ymmv. I guess I assumed we were all on the same page about big traps and the damage they can do to non- targets especially the way grey fox fight a trap.
My thinking is the bigger=heavier trap is going to do more damage than a smaller = lighter trap. Especially if the trapper didn't understand the importance of grinding off the sharp edges of the jaws.
I may be completely wrong on this, if you ask my girlfriend I have been wrong on everything for a long time now. Lol

First coyote I caught had damage in kok9extreme 4 coiled I think with four main springs with outside laminated. Trapnwas on drag coyote got the trap and drag in brush pile and tangled up. Second yotecaught in k9extreme was staked down zero damage. Caught gray fox in inside outside laminated 4coil trapnwith zero damage. For the money they can not be beat. Hardcore traps for hardcore trappers. I.will.be buying more.

RPM you are spot on with your assessment of the damage that can happen when using to big of a trap or to heavy of a trap. And don't let anyone tell you different.
I trapped the live market for over 15 years and I can tell you what happens to red and grey fox when there Is a heavy trap hanging out on the end of that foot. And most of that damage Isn't visible. But Like you said there Is no perfect In the trapping world.
