A lot of things could and can go wrong and you will be heart sick over It for the rest of your life If It does. I would either quit trapping or get a baby sitter. A 4 month old baby has no place on the trap line.

Wow Nessy, No need to call me stupid. I haven't done this yet, I was looking for advice and ideas from those who have. I don't trap in the vast wilderness like some of you do. I trap in populated areas, and my spots that are off the beaten path are not the spots I would take the baby. I personally don't see a problem with setting a few coon, mink, or rat traps in a ditch, with my baby in the truck (in clear view and earshot). I'm not talking about taking my daughter 3 miles from civilization to set a beaver pond, or out in a canoe on a rat Marsh!
When life gets me down..... you know hunting/trapping season is closed.

Dedicated dad? Dedicated to who his wanting to trap or wanting to be with his child? Sorry If that offends you but I see no reason to be hauling an infant on the line.

Make a man outta that lil feller That's what may wife is worried about! We have 2 sons (10 and 12) and while they do like to hunt a little, they are not real big on the "outdoor lifestyle" like me. The new baby (and LAST baby) is a girl, and my wife is afraid that she is gonna end up a hunter/trapper instead of the "girly girl" that my wife has always wanted!

I took my girls out on the line with me and I took them with me hunting and fishing. But they were not 5 months old when I took them. I think I started taking them when they were about 2 years old.

Bad things can happen when they are 2 years old too. Maybe even more so than when they are 5 months old. At 2 years old, they are moving around and getting into stuff. At 5 months they are stuck in their seat or stroller where you put them.
