Never tried the blue bucket set, but the blue bowl set for coyotes is a killer. I agree, I only use two bowl sets on my line otherwise I get way to many coyotes to skin in a day. One day I pulled up to a bowl set and one coyote caught and 4 standing in line waiting their turn.

might sound funny, but do you guy's leave the handle on or take it off.i also painted metal buckets blue but only caught possum's.smell thing you think?? It is most important to leave the handle on the bucket. I fasten the trap with 2 feet of extended chain to the handle with a quick link. After you bed the trap you should put the handle in the upright position. This is two fold, an upright handle makes a perch for small birds thus keeping the trap ready for mink and an upright handle means no catch, when the handle is down you know you scored. You should always be making your sets in the water, this eliminates 99% of the possums.
I got myself a seniors' GPS. Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination, it tells me why I wanted to go there.

They should be illegal. The rivers and streams around here look like a dump. Everybody's using them and they stick out like a sore thumb.

There Is some talk here In WI about outlawing It. Not because It's so effective as a mink set but under the guise as littering.
The blue bucket set In a nut shell. You place the bucket top up. Then you load It up with dry dog food. The birds work the dog food and knock off some of It into the water. This attracts small fish which In turn attract the mink. Then you can place some mud on top and bed your trap. The mink climb up on the bucket and use It as a launching pad to get those small fish. So the bucket can't be to far out of the water. Or you can just add a branch or a rock next to the bucket to create a walk way to the top. Can't here in Mn. As I read the 2019 regulations blue bucket sets are only allowable if submerged. Osky

As you can see, I have accumulated a number of buckets in varying colors and sizes and have come to the conclusion that the blue bucket is far and beyond superior to all of the others. After years of experimenting and countless animals caught there is no doubt in my mind that no other color even comes close. These are my test buckets: That verity of colors should cover every moon phase during the trapping season well done! I tried the 2 1/2 gallon sized buckets for mink but only caught smaller females doing that.
Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

I tried the 2 1/2 gallon sized buckets for mink but only caught smaller females doing that. I have experienced the same thing!! I have a bunch of the cat litter pails that I can only catch low dollar animals in.
I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!

As in all good things trapping I'm expecting MN to totally ban the deadly blue buckets. I have a truckload of the blues from my mink trapping days, seasoned and proofed, warning labels intact. I'm thinking I'm giving them away at 9.00 apiece but I'd only sell all 300 or so as a group. Tears my heart to do it but darn this state....
I'll get them on trap shed as soon as I can bring myself to do it. Oh yeah, shipping extra.

Made all the better by dipping the bucket in full metal jacket.

I thought of that and just left it for someone else to try. I only have one that works right and thought messing with a cracked one might be a waste of time. You thought right. Osky
