What kind of damage do traps like this do to a bobcat compaired to regular jaws.

I know nothing and was looking for someone experienced that would be able to shed some light on what (if any) damage done. Is it as good as a cage trap?

Well,I know nothing about cage traps. But I wouldn't worry about any of the proper size foot holds causing damage to a bobcat'

I use Mb550s in the rubber jaws and catch several bobcats and I've never had any damage

This above. I use 650 cast, never any damage.

In general Bob's just don't fight traps very hard at all. That's why you see all those cat trappers using unmodded #3-4 dbld catching them with no damage. But rubber jaws form more of a constricting hold than an off set laminated trap.

They will beat themselves up in a cage trap trying to blow out of it...IME.

Never had damage with offsets or rubber jaws.

I've never trapped a bobcat, but one thing is ALWAYS a must- swivels, swivels, swivels. They will help prevent any possible damage.

Rubber allows movement, movement is not good, best is a wide cast jaw or laminated jaws with like 1/4" round rod lamination

I've caught plenty in offset jaws and closed jaws.It is very important to have no sharp edges, good swiveling and to avoid entanglement which can stop all swiveling action.Being entangled, besides reducing swiveling, often gives them objects to power off of.Bobcats have more flexible feet and toes than canines and can sometimes pull out with the proper leverage and lack of swiveling action. If you have ever pulled a bobcat out of a burrow or rock crevice, you will know that they are very powerful pullers with 10 hooks on the front end.Good traps, properly set up and common sense is all that is required.

Yup, also had a coyote get out of modified #3 many years ago, it took drag to a fence and lost swivel action wrapped in the fence, it was before I started using 3 lbs of pan tension

Use what ever you have just make sure there are no sharp edges on the jaws. I would not go out and buy rubber jawed traps to trap cats.

I have a least one of all kinds of traps from 1.65 to 650's and have no problems with the rubber jaws. I have also never seen any kind of cut feet. Some people do not care about that but I often release 10 or 12 non targets a year and all their feet are fine if not frozen which is a problem only a few days here. I bought one Bridger no 3 offset laminated and caught 4 coyotes in it this year and two had good feet and two cut. I really like the trap but see a problem if I want to release stuff with it. As far as cats go I doubt you are going to have problems with any type trap. Only problem with rubber jaws is the price. I have gone to mostly duke 4's and 650's rubber jaw.
