Ha! Hunted in that the first of the week here, was tough going. In fifteen years hunting birds here, it was the first I hunted in snow!
Shot one on Wednesday when it was sleeting/freezing rain.
Birds were still in winter groups, and not responding well at all.
Looking forward to my next season that starts on the 4th, hopefully they will be working better!!
Good luck, be safe!

Have you been out yet Law Dog?
Winter flocks are busted up here. Not sure how much breeding as happened but the ritual has started and I see toms with two or three hens now. Was to the ranch last evening and mature Tom was with 3 hens. They had him on a leash. LOL

We had the last 3 days 18th-20th worked a few but they seemed spooky one at 60 yards and the left. The 1st day not a gobble in my area a few shots at sunup but quiet. Gobblers separated from the main groups just not interested much but cold and damp most of the 3 days. Had one fire up later on the 2nd day but never came in. Seen lots of birds the old snow and the new snow did not help much.

The weather around here (weekends anyway) was not good for turkey hunting since the opener for bow back in March. I had hoped to hunt with my bow last weekend but again wet and cold. Today I wanted to hunt but I am on call and the weather is wet and cool again. I probably will take some time off mid week if it's nice. Turkeys are not too vocal yet, but there is some sign of strutting.

I haven't went yet but I will give it a try tonight or tomorrow. When it starts to have those warm days for about a week then it gets really good IMO. Good luck!
