Leave It alone. It Is what It Is. OK for fur out put up but, the auction houses recommend an inspection window for mink, otter and coon.

But the original poster was not talking about cutting or trimming a window.
In most cases If the opening cuts are done right there Is no need to cut or trim a window.

But the original poster was not talking about cutting or trimming a window. The pelt picture he posted sure looks like the belly side of a mink where a window is requested by the auction houses. In any event as "Boco" posted never cut with scissors. Always cut/trim from the skin side with a sharp knife.

I don't have to prove anything to you boco.
If that's the belly side of a mink It wasn't skinned correctly to begin with. And If that's the case then yes a window needs to be cut for Inspection purposes.
My question to AJE Is what's all that crap on that hide. Is He salting It?

Boco you will have to admit that If the right opening cuts are made there will be no need for any trimming or very little.
My cuts on coon and otter and mink allow me to form a window with no additional trimming. And of coarse how you position the hind legs also comes Into play when forming a window.

I don't know why it changed to that strange inconsistent look after the salting process Beav. I think I followed the tanneries instructions. It's turned a more consistent white in the days since that photo was taken.
