So I'm in the market for a new pair of size 13 8 inch boots mainly for hunting but I don't care if they are camo or leather or coyote tan. And I want some that are made In Usa I don't know why I'm just that way. A buddy of mine hunts the way I do (alot of mountian walking and ridge runnin) and he told me danner are the best he's had,he said he's worn out 2 pairs of rockies. I can't go over 300 but I want to buy one pair and have them for a long time and I hunt in North georgia if that helps any.
Thanks

It's out of your budget but check out Nick's Handmade Boots. https://nicksboots.com/Custom made to your exact foot. You need to fill out a custom fit sheet and take a bunch of measurements of your feet and legs. It takes a while to get them made but they will be the best pair of boots you've ever worn. They can be rebuilt as well. I'll put mine on at 6am and not even think about taking them off until after 10 pm when I head to bed.

Trust me I would love a pair of nicks they are awsome and I will probably buy a pair long time from now but I'm only 15 and I'm still growing so that much money for boots Is kind of silly for me if I out grow them in a year or 2. I doubt I will out grow a 13 but still you never know.

Danners are no longer any good IMO. They have changed the last they are made on, making the toe box oversized and the heel too narrow, and most or all are now made in southeast Asia. I still have a pair from 2002 that were top notch, but are now too worn out for anything other than work around home. When I tried to replace them I learned that Danners are not for me any more. You really have to shop smart to find out where boots are made unless you can see a pair in the store and read the tag. When I look for quality boots I look for European mfg. Italy, Romania, Germany, that's where top quality boots are still made. Try looking at Zamberlan boots from Italy. https://www.zamberlanusa.com/shop/category/9789376/hunting

Red Wing still makes a lot of models in their Potosi, Missouri and Red Wing, Minnesota plants. Most of their other brands ( Irish Setter, Vasque, Worx, etc.) are made overseas.

I bought some (read all details because there are nuances) LL Bean Hunting boots (fully gusseted) last year after wearing old boots my entire life. They are the greatest boot of all time. And yes, despite rumors, according to me pressing them on the phone a few weeks ago, they are still 100% guarenteed for what you believe to be the life of the boot. Code: SUMMER20 according to their website will get you 20% off until 05/29 but who knows. This is the boot I got exactly from my cart: https://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/85438?cs...p;isItemId=trueNote: I wear Size 10.5 normally but the trick (I learned from Allen Edmonds, and they echo here) is to go "one size smaller and one size wider." And it worked here. I wear two pairs of wool socks with them but in upstate NY that means I wear them about 9 months out of the year. Can wear with one pair, not really loose.

Since they publicly went Anti-fur and Anti-trapping several yrs ago, they will never get another dime from me/us. I'm sure old LL is surely rolling in his grave. We discussed it here at length back then. White or Wolverine Boots for me!

I also ended up with a pair of Wolverines as a replacement for my worn out Danners. They are very comfortable, good fit, Goretex and Thinsulate lined and so far have been completely waterproof. But NOT made in US. Says "Made in China" right on the tag inside the tongue.
I also have a pair of the LL Bean Hunting Shoes (vs their hunting boot - different sole) and I love them but they don't have the support needed for covering much ground in the mountains.

Well I reckon my usa made options are pretty slim I just got back form ace hardware in ellijay and looked at georgia boots, redwing ,rockies , and chippewas , and wolverines. and all of them were made in China Bangladesh or vietnam or the Dominican Republic except 1 pair of chippewas that were usa made. Kinda sad if you ask me.

The belleville 390 desert were my favorite boot when i was in the service. Ive worn a few pair out. I also hunt in them until it gets cold then i have 2 pair of black winter army boots with goretex lining. Got em in basic training and they are still in decent shape. I have sissy feet and the wrong boots will blister me up bad. The bellevilles have always been great. Ive tried a few others and they never worked out. My next non boot shoe is gonna be a set of merrills to try out. all of these are under 300, probably under 200.

Kinda sad if you ask me. I agree it is sad. About ten years ago I found a small company in NH called Limmer Boot Co. They make both custom and off the shelf boots. I bought a pair of the custom boots and they are hands down the best boots I've ever owned. I've used them hard guiding sheep hunters, goat hunters and everything in between. They look like they have another 25 years left and will definitely outlive me. I paid just over $300 USD at the time but they are a lot more now. Still they are worth every penny. I've had Danners, Meindls and a few other top brands and none of them lasted more than a couple of seasons.

I did not know this. I've been buying their hunting clothes since they started that division, and I heard the family matriarch (I guess?) Linda Bean was a Trump supporter. They make some nice buck skin / wool gloves. I didn't know they were against trapping.

Anything will be better than the herman survivors I have now they are junk they had a squeak in the heel for months the reason I bought them is I needed a pair of boots really fast and at the time I had almost no money now that I have a job I want something with a little more quality than the walmart specials. So almost anything will be better hahaha

One still brand new and all Say Made in America on them. One I bought several years ago are the ones you speak of (bigger toe area) But Danners run narrow so I just use them in the winter when extra toe space is a benefit. The last 2 pair I bought were back to the standard old style. Again, Danners run narrow so a Wider size may be in order for anything above average foot width. These boots will outlast me, no doubt. I just keep replacing the soles when I wear them out. Caution, there is a difference in any boot that has a molded sole and ones that you can resole. The molded soles are about half the price at best. You get what you pay for in a boot. Seems about everyone that doesn't like this boot or that has the molded soles. As a shoe repair owner told me "they are disposable"..and built that way.

Kennetrek.... made in Montana. Have a great warrenty also. This is what your soles look like on Kennetreks after a 3 to 4 weeks walking on rock. P.S. These are made in Italy. They don't warranty this.

Chippewa, I wore red wings for 33 years and at the last was having troubles finding a pair made in the USA or they would fall apart before there time switched to Chippewa last year and love them! Although I do miss the old redwings they used to be an excellent boot .

Red Wings are still good boots. Mine would last longer if it weren't for coolant and solvents at work. Yes they are.....I’ve been on a Concrete floor 8-10 per day for the last 42 years....and my legs never ached ,wearing Red Wings ...can’t say that about other boots.

There Is a red wing store about an hour or so away from me next time I'm that way I will stop and try a couple of pairs on. Back in the late 80's I had a pair of Red Wing Irish SEtter Sport Boots that lasted 7 yrs.......1st 3 hunting/hiking all over Idaho and 4 more on the farm here in NC. Don't know if that model is still made or where, but they were bout the best I ever owned back in those days. I've gone to Wolverines and White nowadays.

They ain’t cheap....250.00 + Good stuff ain’t cheap...and Cheap stuff ain’t good. It has been my experience that you overpay by as much as 20%-40% at Red Wing stores. If you can find a dealer nearby you can save some money. I buy mine from an Amish-run saddlery and tack shop and pay about $40.00 less than what they ask for the same model in a Red Wing store. I've been wearing Red Wing work boots for more than thirty years so I know what size and models I like. I sometimes find good deals on some of the Ebay stores. The models I buy are still made in the USA.

Oh I won't be buying straight from them Im just going to go and see what size and style I need and order them from somewhere on the online. I know not to buy straight from a dealer they jack the prices up. What's the difference in a boot from your dealer and the same boot from amazon or somewhere like that.

I don't think there's any difference other then the price.
To be clear, I wasn't talking about Red Wing retailers in general. I'm specifically talking about the Red Wing Stores being overpriced. The Amish-run saddlery shop where I've been buying mine is a Red Wing retailer and they give me good deals, better than I can find online most times.
You can find Red Wing retailers near your zip code on their website. You can't buy direct from them though. Up until a few years ago it was hard to find online retailers, you had to go to a brick and mortar location.

Stay away from the Irish Setters (Red Wing's hunting boot line). They used to be some of the best hunting boots available for the price but they started manufacturing them in China more than a decade ago and the quality went way down.

I know what you meant the store I'm talking about is a strictly red wing store I know you can go to other places that sell them and the price will be different.

I have a pair of Belleville's that cost me $50 new 6-7 years ago and were comfortable, waterproof and wore great. Got a replacement pair a year ago for about the same.
If you know what size you need ebay provides some very good deals if your patient.

Wow that sounds like a hard job. When I tried those chippewas on I liked the loggers more.
