I hope this worked. Wife got this pick along with many others just a couple days ago. Looks like we got us some bear out in the swamp! Just to clarify, that is a very large bear with two cinnamon and two black cubs. On the down side she is talking about banning bear hunting for this year. She had some picks a couple days before this of just the big one. It has come to my attention that June is their breading time. To me they look the same size and pretty darn small. Are they hers from this year? I am thinking they are. They sure seem to like old doughnuts. Gonna put more out when we get them. Came is on a main trail. Thanks for any advice. Jerry Jr.

That blonde bear is worth a lot of money! There are two of them and if they can make it a couple years that will be great! Problem is there are a few swamps in our area. I am sure they will be roaming all of them. I hope in a couple years I will have the chance to get one of them. We shall see! Jerry Jr.

I think it's interesting that black bears and labrador retrievers come in the same colors.
Keith had a friend who thought his lab was following him down the trial while he road his dirt bike slowed down to scold the dog and send it hom , then he realized it was a bear cub trotting along behind him and he decided he didn't want to meat the sow.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Chances are the young will disperse when the old girl drives them off a year from now.

Really cool bears,we had a sow with 4 cubs last year, no blonds tho,but there's a ban on intentionally feeding bears in Pa. Bear regs. Not trying to be an internet "warden" but you asked to be schooled, lol

Yes,they were born this year and will be kicked off, next June or whenever her heat cycle is.I would think blonde cubs would be very rare there. In most parts of the country,4 cubs would be rare. She will run the male cubs off, next year but may allow female cubs to share her range. This. Up here they can vary some in size when they leave the den depending on how early they were born, what condition the sow was in when she went down, and how long she stays down. Sure looks like a healthy bunch there. Even in our thick bush country off colored bears do not generally get large or live long, hunters tend to abandon their self imposed size perameters when blondes, reds, or cinnimons show up. Osky

Thanks for all the replies guys. Another question, several years ago they got a 305# sow out in the swamp. She had a younger bear with her (1year 10months I think). How often do the sows breed? I am thinking it is every other year. Really cool bears,we had a sow with 4 cubs last year, no blonds tho, but there's a ban on intentionally feeding bears in Pa. Bear regs. Not trying to be an internet "warden" but you asked to be schooled, lol Thanks, I didn't know that one. Good thing them doughnuts were put out there for the deer and yotes. When I find the card I will post a pick. Jerry Jr.

Black bears are a lot like human women in that they willl keep on growing as long as they are not bred. Structurally they pretty much stall out as soon as they have the first litter. They still get fatter in good years but no bigger boned.
I have had 3 sows killed here that were legit on the scale over 300. These three sows were weighed dressed, and all were better than 268 but under 289. That would put them in the low 300's on the pads, as a point of reference. This is since the 80's, heaven knows how many total kills. Point being a 300 plus sow is pretty special.
