Sometimes I think it's a regional thing...In this part of the country most people say Kye-Oatey.

I hear the pronunciation "Kye-Oat" from western trappers mostly.

I try and say lt, k yo tay, like I imagine Charles Bronson in Chato’s Land would say it. Or Blue Duck from Lonesome Dove

Wish they had left the e off the end of that word. Only ones out west that say ky-ot-ee is the mexicans. I blame them for starting that bad habit!
