IDK but I hope so, a bed shorter than 8' is about useless. At least to me.

You can get em in 3/4 ton , I don't think you can get one in a 1/2 ton anymore.
I just sold my old truck with a 8 ft bed. The guy that got it said he been looking for awhile for one.

Toyota makes some Tundras with an 8ft bed. My Tundra Double Cab has an eight foot bed but it's a 2008 model.

I like the guys with the 8 foot beds then they slap a honkin big 2foot toolbox across the front.LOL. I prefer the extended cab with the 6 1/2 foot bed.You can lock stuff inside the cab,and if you need more bed a bed extender is easy to slap on and off when needed.

That's the most ridiculous things I've seen in a long time.
Extended cab (to lock your stuff in) AND 8ft box. And airbags so you can load it to the gills. Most stock suspension (even the 1 tons) are too soft if you're going to put any real weight back there.
But the downside to any full size truck is they are junk offroad compared to the little trucks. Always a trade off.

Anything other than an 8' bed is useless in my opinion. OP, I feel your pain. When I was on the hunt two years ago, I found the only used, diesel 8' bed in about 250 miles. LITERALLY! You can get them used but they are going to probably be fleet trucks like mine was so be extra careful checking it out.

my favorite was the 4 door 8 foot bed but it sure was long but as long as you park out in truck parking it's all good
my current is a F150 6' 6" bed 2wd with a small back seat but the price was right I added a ladder rack to carry lumber I can load a lot of wood on the roof , just got to take the corners slow when loaded that way
before that I was in a E350 15 passenger van seat 5 and
for hunting I borrowed a grain tote with a lid and put my dry stuff in there then coolers on top and strap it all down
guns across the back seat with other items I wanted close at hand.

AND, I've found that older 8' beds have parallel sides and newer ones have a tapered bed, that a shell from an older truck will not fit properly.

I'll just keep my "92 1/2 ton Chev going then, and my "78" Powerwagon too.

Long wheel base on an extended cab with an 8ft box wont cut it on the bush roads around here.Lots of washouts to cross,so shorter wheelbase is a must.

I have an 88 Mitsubishi mighty max with a. 6 foot bed. I can fit 4x8 sheets of material if I put 8 ft 2x4s on top of the taigate for the sheets to rest on. I fit my 10 ft kayak and 4 five gallon buckets just fine. My Dad was a drywall contractor for many years. He used the same method to haul 12ft sheets of rock in a 8ft box pickup back when trucks were just trucks. Load up a pickup with a bunch of rock in the back and steering sure gets light.

You guys that are 8ft or die must not live in civilization, I need a crew cab because I have to regularly haul my kids around, and with a 8 ft bed i would have to park who knows where and some of the parking lots wouldn't even be able to navigate with that long of a wheelbase due to the curb radiuses. When I need to haul something that won't fit in my 6 1/2 ft bed with a toolbox I use ...... a trailer. Heck of a lot easier to hook up to it for the few times a month I can't fit stuff in the bed than driving the Lusitania around all year.....
Plus, like Boco said, I can lock stuff securely inside the cab on the back seat when I need to.

Great for camping and towing but I don’t use my truck for work. If I still worked construction I’d buy a regular cab with an 8 foot box for a work truck.

An 8 foot bed with extended cab is absurd, an extended cab with 6.5 bed with a tool box is useless, Id prefer a reg cab with 8 ft bed, but got to admit the extended cab is pretty useful, nobody rides back there but you can get all your tools in without a box, throw my foul weather gear in and it dries, groceries when its raining, etc. I miss the 8 ft bed, but can manage.

Some of you guys apparently need some additional driving lessons. My Tundra Double Cab w/ eight foot bed is twenty-one feet long. It goes anywhere an ordinary car can. Then again, I know how to drive. Crowded, multi-level parking garages in a big city, no problem: Double-parked with the rest of the "regular cars" picking up college students in downtown Washington DC, no problem. If you think a few extra feet, one way or another, is going to make a difference in how well you maneuver a vehicle, well...see my first statement on this post.

All the truck manufacturers still make 8 ft beds, dealers just don’t stock them much anymore due to demand. There are a lot of them available up here due to all the industrial, oil fields and construction. You might try looking for commercial/industrial surplus sales for good deals. They are most commonly stripped-down “fleet models”, but you can get them with full trim if you buy new or look in the right places. Between contracting, camping, hunting and trapping I’d feel useless without an 8 ft bed, and often it’s still not enough. I used to have an overhead lumber rack on my truck, then I scored a commercial topper with the side doors. Now I can keep tools locked up, dry and hidden better than in the cab. Then I had a stroke of genius and put my lumber rack on my old pickup-bed trash trailer, and now I can haul just about whatever I want . I think this is the most versatile setup I’ve ever had. My next truck will be a 4-door (crew cab) 8 ft bed. Biggest I can get. Like I tell people, if 2 or 4 feet makes the difference in your driving ability, then by all means stick with a vehicle size that matches the rest of you. Here’s what a “loaded”camping trip looked like before I had the rack or box. The second pic is my current setup. Ugly but practical!
Boco couldn't catch a cold. But if he did, it would be Top Lot.

I've seen more than a few 6 pack's with a 4' bed, why bother, just as well get an SUV. I gotta have a log bed, and won't ever have another truck without the 3rd door, extended cab.

They certainly do still make them. Chevy at least calls them "work trucks". I refuse to get anything shorter than 8' because I have room for my toolbox in the winter

I wouldent own anything shorter than 8'
my van is 10' I use my van as a tool box for my drywall gear. There is lots of room in it. If it was 4 wheel drive I would trap beaver in it as I can get a 10' drowner rod to fit nicely.

An 8 foot bed just allows the contents to slide further when ya hit the brakes.

if they made a 10' bed i'd jump right on it! You just have to go your 1 1/2 ton or bigger trucks, in a flat bed, and with a diesel, lol., and in a duly. I'd like one too.

I bought my first new truck in 1970, Chevy 2wd, 350 4bl, 3 on the tree, with an 8 ft bed. Every truck I have owned since has had an 8 ft bed except for one. My 2012 Ford F350 4x4 has an 8 ft bed & a standard cab. Anything less than an 8 ft bed isn't a truck, it is a grocery getter.
