Hearing of fox trappers collecting their own fox urine I began attempting to do so. I didn't have much success. I tried different dispatch methods but it didn't seem to matter. I happen to notice the picture below.
Why is he carrying those foxes by the front legs? I had always carried mine by the back legs.

I've hung them by front feet and back feet, but I didn't notice a difference. I'd love to have about 8 oz of bladder urine!

males most always have full bladder. females not so much. Consider the sex of the animals next time.
Never argue with a fool - they will drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

males most always have full bladder. females not so much. Consider the sex of the animals next time. That's the way it's always been with mine. I drive my truck right up to most of my sets Hobbie. Foxes are quickly dispatched and put in the back of the truck. The females will often pee at the trap site, I can smell it. The males usually don't. They are weighed and hung in my fur shed by their back feet. I never noticed any urine leaking after dispatch. So, I don't think the front leg carry makes a difference. But I'd be interested in hearing about your results if you continue this experiment for a while.

I read in a trapping book that you should hang them from the front feet (I like to wrap wire around the mouth) for a few hours. This allegedly causes urine to collect in the bladder. I usually collect some from each fox, I haven’t been paying enough attention to keep records of male/female. I will now though.

I don't keep them separate and don't know any trappers that do.
I suppose a case could be made for keeping female-in-heat urine separate?

The male sure does have more. That female bladder was empty, that is the size of an empty bladder.

Do you keep male and female urine separate? Would there be any reason to do so?
The male sure does have more. I have singular urine both male and female. Is there any situation that might benefit from introducing a single fox?

I suppose a case could be made for keeping female-in-heat urine separate? Maybe to attract more males? But wouldn’t any urine do that? Do you keep male and female urine separate? Would there be any reason to do so?
