Does anybody use something else to set those springs other than the designed setters? Just curious.

Thanks

I have used a pliars, but it isn't as handy as the spring tool is.

Way harder to explain than to do.

With your snare anchored, remove the loop, have everything in a straight line.

Place a strong stick, nail, etc. Through the center loop off the spring.

Pull hard/strait away from the anchor, the spring will compress and place the trigger on.

Not easy to explain but super simple.

Get yourself some flat stock and build a pair of setters quite simple really

It might work, be about like using a 10# sledge hammer for putting up trim work. If you don’t want to use Marty’s setters, I’d think I’d try an oversized pair of channel locks and expect a real goat rope along with a pinched finger or two.

Take an old rust pair of regular pliers. Replace the short bolt with a long bolt. Weld a bolt near the end of each jaw. Presto, a setter. I made one like this when I was using this system for predator control. (In sask you could use a kill spring system if it had the blessing of your local dnr.)

Easy and oh so cheap.
