I know this has been brought up before, and there are many threads showing individual sets ( but after a quick search I can't find exactly what I am looking for), but I think it would be a great learning experience to know what everyone's go to Bobcat set is and why they prefer it. To clarify, I would like to know what kinds of sets are preferred when a person is targeting bobcats, I know that they are caught on canine sets regularly.

As for me I prefer a walk through with lure one either side and some flagging higher up and in between the traps. The reason I prefer this set is... it's the only one that I have been able to catch a cat on lol. [Linked Image]

Nice set. Why did you bury the trap?

Good thread, I'll be following this one. I've only caught 3 cats & they were in dirt hole sets but I think a post set would work well also in the mountain woods where I trap.

I buried the trap out of habit I set more coyote sets than cat sets each year. I am running #3 bridger's. On a side note, the wind blew through there so hard the week after I set that it blew both traps clean and blew my pan covers over the rainbow haha

I have had my best luck with cats using post sets. Flashy dirtholes are a close second.

Tracy, those attractors you sell are the bees knees. I can see those turkey feathers I got spinning in the wind from over 100yd away. You guys should check them out if you haven’t yet.
My favorite bobcat set is definitely a walkthrough along a logging road around here, but I tend to make a lot of big showy dirtholes too and do very well on them.

Thanks Dfabs. I notice they fool my dog from time to time. He will catch a glimpse of one and charge toward it until he gets close enough to figure out what it is. Then he puts on the brakes and gets this embarrassed look on his face and tries to act like he knew what it was all along.

People say walls don't work. Nice looking set.
Flashy dirt holes work well for me here.

Put the trap in the cat's way.

Because the Idaho bobcat season doesn't open until December 14, my favorite high desert bobcat set is a snare on a trail in sagebrush.

I started catching cats when I started thinking blind trail sets. If you want to add some smells or visuals to it that's ok too but put the trap where the cat walks .

Thanx! I saw those. Definitely gotta get some for next season. I wasn't sure if "Truman" were something different.

It has to be the walk-through sets for me. I think what I like most about them is the speed and ease of set construction, and of course their effectiveness.
