I recently watched the educational video the Wild Fur Shippers Council put out and it include a piece on there about how to prepare beaver tails for auction. I was just curious if anyone has done this yet and what if any success have you had? Is it even worth the time to skin out those little beaver tails?

I use the smaller thin ones for belt work, use the larger ones over 8 inches long and four inches wide for wallets.

What something is worth depends on your need for funds I guess, if you planning on some investment capital, then your going to have to save for a while.

They don't usually sell for more then 3 dollars a tail even prepped and dry, when people find out you can use them, then they will tell you how much they are worth LOL

Their Is a decent market for un skinned beaver tails. I would be looking Into that market before I started putting up beaver tails and shipping to the auction.

Would double check with NAFA, I know FHA does not have a market for beaver tails anymore and has stopped accepting them.

Prepped tails should be worth more then $3
Raw tails can get that.

There are markets such as that mentioned by grit
Also lure makers
And then there are those who you may want to be careful selling tails too

I haven't found $3 for raw tails.

There was a guy at the FTA national this past year buying beav tails.
