Ok so I found the box in my kitchen drawer where we keep matches and bottle openers and flashlights. They are UCO Strike Anywhere that according to the good ol Internet have been discontinued

I know they are still available cause I just bought a box at RuralKing. Not the kind Paul is talking about.
Them strike on box are a pain. However I knew a guy that had a pocket full of strike anywhere matches one 4th july for lighting firecrackers. They rubbed in his pocket and all lit up. He dropped his pants in public and still had a burn in a bad spot. Could confidently say he was "hot stuff" after that.

Strike anywhere's are still available here but they aren't built as good as they were. Usually takes a couple to get one to ignite.

Strike anywhere matches will light when struck on anything.....your zipper or front teeth. I use them for frying fish. Throw one in the oil and when it lights the oil is hot enough. We had mice get into a box of them when I worked in Idaho and were told the mice must have chewed on them. Anyway, it burned the cabin down. Only knew of one person to strike on his teeth. He did it only once, upon discovering that sulphur tastes foul.

You could easily light them on your Levi's too Or parachute pants in your case.
I have nothing clever to put here.

Marty >>> sometime try taking two of those matches you have, and try to ignite them by twisting them together? See if you can get fire without the box striking pad.

I'm a pipe smoker. You're supposed to use matches to light your pipe but I haven't been able to locate a quality match for a long time... I even tried the fancy sulfur free ones they market to cigar smokers that don't change the flavor of your stogie...
Most of the matches in the box are garbage... They flare up and instantly go out.
I keep a few boxes around. But I basically gave up and went to cheap disposable butane lighters.

The strike pads are waterproof also and come just as a pad that you can put in a waterproof match case. That's all I need as far as matches.
