For the heck of it I went out and purchased a Buck Canoe knife made in China. Sadly it the sharpest knife. Compared to the German made Hen & rooster and the US made buck I posted earlier in this thread. Actually the China made Buck Canoe is razor sharp. Kind of a shame in a sense.
Thought I was a good trapper until I started trapping coyotes...... Thought I was a good bowhunter until I targeted mature bucks....

All you benchmade guys know they donate to anti gun Democrats in Oregon, and help the police cut up firearms ? You guys need to listen to Tom Grisham's Gun Talk Radio and the interview with benchmade's CEO. You can hear it on Youtube. I choose to give my money to Bear & Son for a great folding pocket knife and not support anti gun Democrats. I did not know this but will continue with my every day carry Benchmade as I really like the knife, no matter who made it. I have a Case collection that I add to and pet but never carry. My other carry knife is an Old Timer Muskrat with the ugly carbon blades that even a clutz like me can get razor sharp. Zim

With you there Zim I like my Benchmade a lot and will continue to carry it. If I loose or break it, Its going to be a tough one to replace with something else. Not looking forward to that time for sure. I'll have to see what the laws are in Tennessee about carrying knives. Maybe I'll carry a fixed blade there that I made. That way I am not going to feel guilty about the manufacturer

Some nice knives and good info being kicked around. Been watching this thread since it started. Went to look for my pocket knife about two weeks before it started and can't find it. Been looking ever since. It was a cheapo Winchester with bone handles (looked bone anyways), someone gave it to me, said it wasn't valuable and I needed a pocket knife. So now I'm looking at for a nicer quality knife that actually can be used for skinning small game and other task that pocket knifes are handy for. Mostly cutting tape and string in my world. I can't see paying a lot for something I could lose or might "walk-off". I'm thinking more like a Case Muskrat. Anyone have one of them and care to give your opinion on it? Or, is there a similar, but better quality knife I should consider? I need something I can actually skin with when I need to. Thanks!

I carry 3 knives on me most of the time...
Buck 110 in a horizontal carry sheath on my belt.
A Frost River Cutlery trapper in my pocket (China made, but takes and holds a very good edge)
A Klein cable splicer's knife in a sheath with Klein scissors. Sheath rides on my belt opposite side of my Buck 110.
2 disposable lighters in my shirt pocket. Lol

Does the Klein cable splicer work good for stripping copper wire? That's what I use it for. Mike

Case #07406 Muskrat w/ 2 clip blades... been using them a long time. I have 8 or 10 new ones here so hopefully that'll get me thru my remaining trapping years.... sharpen easy, carry easy, modest price, quality knife IMO...

run, if you're doing electrical work the scissors are just about as handy as the knife.

I inherited this knife from my grandfather It says
Germania Cutworks Germany on the blades
it has a wooden handle with brass rivets, it has to be pretty old
