Odd heavy chain on this trap. I put it next to a #4 Newhouse for comparison. Heavy chain lighter ring. Any ideas?[Linked Image]

Could be my eyes are deceiving me but is the pan shank on the rough one really short?
And is the swivel on the rough one heavier than the other?

They shank is thinner and longer on the heavy chain trap.

I better get an eye appointment. That is one tough pan to decifer...

My idea is just a guess but I think it is Gibbs US chain on a Newhouse Pat. Date #4....and the ring is cobbled on. crazy

Any sign of spring stamps Jim?

The lower chain in the picture reminds me of the chain I've seen on US Standards. A long spring trap made by Gibbs.

Came in both # 3 and # 4 double long. Not sure what the ring looked like.
