I thought red fox had bottomed out, but not at this sale...
..this was a good average...even though only 42% sold.

Never try fha, but from results, an results in past. Nafa has higher prices on most sales, it looks like to me but I never try them, nafa an groenwold are no accepting possum, mine are unsold from a year ago but 100 per cent sold here? Why not nowhere else?, Fha are pretty good on beaver prices, I got more for my coon at nafa, sold 70 per cent of mink at nafa for $10.17 average, rat about same thing as fha, groenwold an nafa as well as fha. Might have different customers?

That's a great-looking Badger average! The coons look disappointing. And I'd definitely take that Foxx average any day! But none of this really means a whole lot, if they're not 100% sold without knowing what sold and what did not.

I sent some fur to FHA and took most to my local Idaho Trappers fur sale just completed. I did so much better locally. My coyotes avg was $90, (big thanks to Western Montana Fur) Idaho Marten all sold for $26 avg, my four cross fox all sold for $50,(big thanks to Wyoming Fur Traders), and my Cats avg was much higher than the $416 at FHA.(big thanks to Western Montana Fur) Also commissions were 5% instead of twice that. I am coming back to the USA for a while. Also great fun visiting with the other trappers in attendance and learning so much from the grading / handling demo. MT

Nafa western coyotes were 20 bucks American higher. That is too significant to not notice. And next time could be $ 20 lower . In these times one just never knows. Round and round it goes where it stops we trappers probably does not knows. I am glad those houses are. Selling coyotes for good money and there is still a good market.

I think the author is trying to make it for the " Giller Prize" in the Canadian Literary Awards No-N0 these are just numbers, wait until the official analysis (poop sheet) comes out before awarding the best short story. Anything can be skewed to make it look good or bad. Look at the state of politics in the U.S. lately! And yes, we all wish prices were better, but this is today's market.

The next sale will be worse than this one. Looks like another score for the tannery !
