carp? I'm seeing pictures of them getting high-centered here in Nebraska as the flood water drops. Just wondering if they're palatable.

In Colombia they're called "Boca chico" and they eat them by the boatload. Way too bony for me. And yes, I ate one or two while there.

Asian carp are supposed to be pretty good to eat. I would not hesitate to eat an Asian Carp, if they came out of decent water.

When we were paddlefishing we had been throwing them on the bank as we snagged them, the fella beside us about had a stroke when he found out we didn't plan on cleaning them.

I've actually ate good common carp, but I think it depends on the water they come out of and their diet.

Shot them redhorse carp in Chicago had some folks ask if they could have them, I could not believe anyone would want a fish to eat out of that oil slick!

I read the title of this thread and wasn't sure what I was getting into when I opened it up.

There three kinds of asian carp that have been introduced in the US the silver, bighead, and grass carp. The silver are the ones that do the jumping, the bighead will but not nearly as much. I have had the grass carp smoked. It was very good. The silver and bighead are the most important fish in aquaculture in Asia. They have very little mercury in them because they don't eat other fish. they have been an important food source there for over a 1000 years. There has been an attempt to market them in the US under the name Kentucky Tuna.

The Hoots here always want a truck load of Buffalo carp but that's just a waste of good coon bait!

How do you get the stink off after you touch them? We couldn't even wash the smell out of gloves.

Very invasive species that will ruin any good fishery. I read years ago that they put some electronic device in a waterway to keep them from moving into the great lakes.

Id rather eat a bighead or silver than a trout or white bass. their flesh is kind of similar to white bass with bones .they are a great fish to pickle.Their not as clean tasting as buffalo or grass carp but better than common carp .Grass carp ribs rank up there with flathead steaks in my book .

White bass may be my favorite of all. Perch is right up there with crappie at it's heels.
