I shot this big 1 tonight. They usually move slow but this 1 took off so fast I couldn't catch up to it, until it climbed a big tree.

Why'd you shoot it?

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

You have to remember that 1 out of 3 Democratic Voters is just as dumb as the other two.

Silly statement.

You shoot every deer? Deer do a lot more damage to trees and there is alot more deer around.

Besides deer there are lots of other animals that do damage to trees, you shoot them all?

You will see that up here too. The dog people want them all dead. The thing is, the dog people are well heeled, and don't live here, they just visit at a certain time of year. I let porcupines live, and they'll infest a jack pine forest, kill the trees and force the DNR to sell the wood, lol.

They are a part of the forest.

Yep, a hounds man will let his illiterate dog go right past a no trespassing sign just to encounter a porcupine. smile

Most guys I know that run hunting dogs take advantage of electric training collars. It takes no time to teach a dog to avoid 'trash' animals.

Someone shot and left a porcupine right in the middle of a dirt road not far from me a week or so back. Senseless and a black eye for us in the eyes of the nonhunting public.

Deer prune a lot of browse porkies strip the bark off of the trees, often a mature tree to boot. It's the landowners call for me I care less if they are walking around so I don't go out of my way to do them harm for no reason.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

i keep them thinned out around home, pulled my share of quills here.other peoples are their problem but i do hunt and trap on a couple places where the landowners want them gone.course we have a season and bag limit on them here now.can show you a 3-4 acre spot that what must be a bunch took out all the beech trees.fortunately its one of those keep away neighbors and he is on his own.was like they stopped at the property line.surprised also how many are around with the fisher population so high.

I wouldn't kill an animal unless it was for a use(food, fur) and only within management parameters or unless it was a specific animal causing problems.

So nothing-just sayin.
They have a purpose in the ecosystem.
Standing dead chicots are one of the most important things in the bush for countless animals and birds.

I don't kill beaver for damaging trees. But I do kill specific beaver when they cause damage to roadway infrastructure causing a safety hazard to the travelling public.
