I set out dry dirt mixed with wax pellets in some black utility pans and a couple black tubs. Put them on a big sheet of black plastic and covered with clear plastic. It's around 100 degrees right now and bright sun. Went to mix the dirt some with a rubber gloved hand and bout burnt my fingers off. That ole sun has some power today. But it is to cool off a little in the coming days. But something is telling me it's going get really hot again. I make 20 gallons of dirt at a time. Will make a barrel full, that should last awhile in trapping season. Who has got it really hot out side of their front door?? Anybody cooking dirt too??
Since I started this yester day, the wind came from the north last night. This morning about sun up we go a big rain. I have received 2.8" at my cabin. Creek is just about bank full. East of me a few miles it was 4.10". I heard up in west central Nebraska it really poured. Anybody out that way have a total. I am in SE Nebr.

Glad I did all of my waxed dirt before this front moved in. We had 3" of rain and 30 degree drop in temps in last 24 hours.
Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Working on it here but I'm having a hard time. Plenty hot but I put the dirt and wax out and then try to get home from work in time to stir it in but I'm usually too late and the wax is hard again. Then if I get home early or have time on the weekend it's cloudy. Can't win for losing but did manage to get 10 gallons done today for a total of 45 gallons so far. Hoping to get 100 gallons done soon. Looks like I might have the winter off so the coyotes are in for a hurtin if I can get this dirt done. Need to hire a part time dirt stirrer. How would I word that want ad?

I am waiting to do some sand. But it either rains just about every other day or it is cloudy, And we have not seen any really hot weather for awhile.
