Anyone ever find wild strawberries? I've seem them in fields that were no longer being farmed. NJ is either city, woods, or farmed fields so there aren't many places they would grow. Wild strawberries here are only about 1/2" across, nothing like the big, juicy, commercial varieties.

Have a pretty good stash of huckleberries and blackberries in the freezer. More hucks to come still.

Only place I know of that has wild strawberries is on my Grandparents grave in the cemetery. We have chokecherries ripening, wild grapes and wild plums have a ways to go yet. No blackberries around here that I know of. May be some raspberries down in the park along the crick.
Life ain't supposed to be easy.

Some of the areas I used to pick are in areas that have been heavily chemically treated for invasive buckthorn, so my berry picking opportunities aren't looking good. I don't trust garlon or tordon near wild berry patches, but I can't blame landowners that target that nasty invasive.
