I put some trot lines out over the weekend and caught a few catfish. Friday night - 210 lbs Saturday night - 471 lbs Both nights the river here fell over a foot. Some old timers told me not to waste my time... ol'dad

I am so hungry for fish fry
nice catch , I can't hardly imagine 471 pounds being not worth it unless you have 250 pounds of bait out to catch that
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Holy Catfish! You don't mess around. All Flatheads and Blues? Yes, all flatheads and blues. 115 hooks friday night and 125 hooks saturday night. Baited with bluegill, long ear, and green sunfish. Those totals don't include around 40 lbs of small flatheads we threw back sunday morning, or the 40 lb +/- blue saturday and 60+/- lb flathead sunday morning that we lost trying to net. Both fish were on the last hook of the line next to the weight and straightened the hook when we were trying to net them. That flathead combined with what we threw back would have put me close to 600 lbs for the night on sunday, or 4.80 lbs/hook. ol'dad

I know those Flatheads are very tasty, but I have never eaten a Blue....we don't have them here in Michigan. How is it compared to a Flathead?

I know those Flatheads are very tasty, but I have never eaten a Blue....we don't have them here in Michigan. How is it compared to a Flathead? Smaller blues from 15lb down are incredibly good. I dare say better than flatheads. I tend to toss back any blues over 20lb because of all the Mercury they claim the bigger fish have. No clue if correct or not

Ol' dad I would have thought like the old timers. Never done much good on the fall but from the looks of it that don't always hold true.
